The stock market is closing out its first winning week in a month after news on the economy started getting better.
The Dow Jones industrial average jumped 128 points Friday, its fourth straight day of gains. The strong start to September marked a turnaround from a dismal performance in August.
A better report on job creation Friday was the latest piece of good news on the economy and pushed shares higher.
According to preliminary calculations, the Dow closed up 128, or 1.2 percent, at 10,448.
